Happy Halloween!

There's no place like home!

Meltdown #1 of the night...

Ready to go Trick-or-Treating with the big kids!

This is how Jillian did most of her Trick-or-Treating. After meltdown #2 at the first house of the night. She wanted to eat the tootsie roll pop she got, and threw herself down on the ground because she didn't want to do anything but eat it. Probably not the best thing to do to give in, but oh well!

Hope you all had a very Happy Halloween!

5 new posts...

Ok...I'm really bad about updating the blog in a timely manner, but at least I'm updating it! Check out the 5 new posts below. I'll have a 6th later once I take a picture of our finished craft!

Carving Pumpkins

Frank and I realized that we have never carved a real pumpkin since we've been together. We figured this year was a great year to start since Jillian is old enough to "help."

The finished products:

Unfortunately, the pumpkins had to be tossed out with the trash this morning because they were already rotten. This weather is not good for carved pumpkins...dead after only a week!

I also roasted pumpkin seeds and had a nice treat all last week! Yummy!

Dewberry Farms

Frank and I decided to take a trip out to Dewberry Farms to let the munchkin play and see the pumpkins. We were a little apprehensive about the 1 hour car ride (we've never taken her on a trip more than 30 or so minutes) but she did great there and back! Unfortunately we picked the HOTTEST possible days to go. It was probably 90 degrees with NO SHADE. Oh well, Jillian had fun anyway!

Unfortunately, my child wouldn't sit still for a picture with the pumpkins. She was too busy trying to run and check everything out. Maybe next year!

Why I blog

For moments like this....

Background story:

Frank went out of town a couple weeks ago for business. It happened to also be a week I was testing so things were a little hectic! I came home one afternoon after picking up Jillian and opened the door to let the dog out and Jillian followed. Not a problem, she normally follows him out most days. I ran to the microwave to throw something in for dinner. Not even 2 minutes later I go outside to find this lovely scene. Can't blame a kid for wanting to swim, right??

Normally something like this would frustrate me, but instead I ran inside to get my camera so I could blog about it and had myself a little laugh!! :)

New shirt

My grandmother got Jillian this shirt and I think it's hilarious!

While she really is very good for her age...she has her moments that make this shirt 100% true!

18 months

Little miss turned 18 months on Sunday, October 3. I know I'm so bad about updating the blog, but I have to get the milestone's in.

The day before with Daddy getting ready to go to Hudson's birthday party.

The day of Jillian's 18 month birthday we took her to the park to run around because the weather was BEAUTIFUL!! Unfortunately the weather has since turned back to Summer like heat....yuck! Here are a few of the munchkin running around at the park.Running around

Couldn't ride in the wagon...she had to push it!
Mom...haven't you taken enough pictures???

New stuff for 18 months....

  • 20.9 lbs. - 5th percentile, 30.5 in. - 18th percentile
  • 12 month clothes, but we have to buy longer shirts because her belly sticks out of the shorter ones. We tried 18 month clothes, but they are huge on her and fall off or are WAY too long.
  • She still wears size 5 shoes.
  • She has 16 teeth.
  • Dr. McAtee suggested we start giving her PediaSure at night to combat our little picky eater. Jillian took one sip and refused anymore. Guess that's not going to work!
  • She no longer walks anywhere...she only RUNS!!! We have to tell her to "go slow" or we're going to end up with broken teeth from the face-plants she does when running.
  • We don't have to worry about using the gate on the stairs anymore. If she goes upstairs, we just have to ask her to come down and she does.
  • For the most part she minds very well. We rarely have to use time-out anymore. If we tell her to not do something, she listens for the most part...sometimes we have to count, but she definitely understands everything we say.
  • She LOVES Happy Feet the movie and The Wiggles. She knows all the Wiggles songs by heart and will dance and sing along. She knows Happy Feet by heart and will let you know what is about to happen in the movie.
  • She has started singing along to the ABC song...she doesn't know all the letters, but she makes sounds that sound like it. And she sings "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and does hand movements along with it.
  • She loves being outside and we go outside in the backyard every evening to play with her.
  • She thinks it's hilarious to watch anyone run and loves to chase or be chased.
  • She is definitely putting more words together "mo pease," "tain too DaDa," etc.
  • I think my favorite new word of hers is "Dee lee dee" or DVD. Cracks me up to hear it!
She is SOOOOO much fun at this age! Frank and I can't get enough of her!

Holiday Crafts

A few weeks ago we went over to my friend Amy's house to do a little holiday crafting. As most of you know...I'm not crafty at all, but I was pretty happy with how the finished product came out. Jillian wasn't too into the crafts and had a meltdown towards the end because it was a MDO day, also.
You can plainly see what she WAS interested in.

The finished product....

Thanks Amy and Evan for having us over for some pre-Halloween fun!!

Jillian's 1st Parade

Last night we took Jillian to the CBHS Homecoming parade. She has never been to a parade before, so we were excited to see how she would like it. Of course being the bad mommy that I am...I forgot my camera. However, there were a lot of good mommy's there that were nice enough to share their pictures with me!

Holding Mommy's hand like a good Big Girl!

Patiently waiting with her new buddies (and a little belly showing) for the parade to start.

Unfortunately, once the parade started, the sounds were all a little much for our princess. She would cry "no, no, no!" and clap all at the same time. It was too funny! But we decided to pack it up early and leave before we stressed her out too much. She had a blast playing before the parade, though! Maybe next time will go a little better...we'll see!

Feast or Famine...

I know it's been forever since I updated the blog, but I have really good reasons! We've all been sick, had visitors, work, and life in general. There are several posts below (4 to be exact!) to catch up on everything. I promise to update more frequently...or at least attempt to. :)

And the obsession continues...

She loves walking in Mommy and Daddy's shoes!

Chillin'

I love these two more than life!

Mother's Day Out

Jillian started Mother's Day Out the day after Labor Day. I was a little nervous about sending her, but I'm glad we decided to do it. I've really seen her blossom since she's been going the past couple weeks.
With Daddy before Meet the Teacher Night

Cheesin' it up with her backpack on the first day

Let's get this show on the road!
I wish I could say the first day went as well as it looks in this picture. I couldn't get any pictures at her school because they ask you to drop them off then RUN!! Of course Mommy hid around the corner for a little while to make sure she would be ok. I think if the other kids wouldn't have cried, she would've been fine, but that didn't happen. After the first day, she was much better, though. She still cries if she's not the first kid picked up because she wants to "bye bye" whenever anybody else gets to go! I will say I've gone through my fair share of Mommy guilt, but I'm so glad that she's getting some socialization and I feel very comfortable with her school.

17 months

I know this is VERY late, but I figure I should go ahead and do it anyway.
Our little munchkin turned 17 months on September 3rd. She doesn't look too happy to be 17 months, does she?? That's because everytime I get out the camera now, I get this...

Which is really sad considering most of the time we hear this...

Not much of her stats have changed...teeth are the same, clothes and diaper sizes are the same. However her feet seem to be growing as fast as her vocabulary! We've gone through about 3 shoe sizes this summer!

Granny came to visit us last month and we went to the aquarium at Moody Gardens. Jillian loved spending time with her Granny!

3 generations looking at the fish!

We have so much fun with our little munchkin!

Busy Momma!

As shocking as it might seem...even after going back to work last week, I am trying to stay up on my blog posting! Check out my three new posts below!

And by the way...how sad is it that I took the pictures in the 3 posts below with the blog post titles in mind???

A little TMI, but too hilarious to not want to remember!

If you look closely at one of Jillian's many accessories you might notice that something doesn't look quite right. Her favorite thing to do is to get into my "wedding gift" drawer and to put certain things on as necklaces. Don't worry...the one she has on has never been worn!

And let's not forget the shades!

If this is what one does to my house...

there's a good chance I won't ever want to find out what two will do!

You know it's hot out when....

this is where your child likes to hang out!

16 months

Mommy's little angel turned 16 months this past Tuesday. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. I have absolutely loved spending my Summer with her. And while I am ready to go back to work to gain back adult conversation during the day, I'm also dreading leaving my sweet little girl!
How could I not love this sweet girl???
What is little Miss Jillian up to these days??

  • She's still wearing all 12 month clothes. I was looking at her in her clothes the other day and was trying to figure out how the clothes are still so big on her. When I took them off her that night, I looked at the tag. The minimum weight recommendation is 20.5 lbs. Well according to our scale, Jillian barely makes it. Guess we'll be in 12 month clothes for quite a while longer! Mommy and Daddy are definitely happy about the clothes budget, though!

  • She's still in size 3 diapers.
  • She now has 12 teeth, we got two more molars this past month.

  • Her vocabulary is increasing daily. Just in the past few days she's picked up "hot," "eat," "wa" (water,) "cow," "ice." I know there are more, but this is just what I could come up with off the top of my head. She's like a sponge!

  • She loves singing and dancing. She has a dog that plays music and whenever she hears "Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes" start playing she immediately points to her eyes and says "eyes" for the "Eyes and ears and mouth and nose" part. She also hates any music that resembles a lullaby. Anytime she hears one of her many toys play a lullaby she starts crying! Should be interesting when they play a lullaby to get her to sleep at Mother's Day Out...
Watching the Wiggles and singing and dancing along.

    • She loves sliding on her playhouse. We brough it downstairs earlier this month for some friends to come over and play and she had a blast on it!

Cheesin' it up before sliding down

Then crying because I wouldn't give her the camera...

    • She has really started getting into girly things lately like dressing up. She's had an obsession with shoes for a while, but she has now also turned her attention to jewelry. Speaking of shoes, her feet have grown again this summer and she's now wearing a size 4 shoe.

Accessories are always necessary, even when you're sitting in a box!
The newest addition to her shoe collection. The girl loves a statement shoe!

    • She absolutely loves being outside. Unfortunately, it's been so hot that Mommy hasn't been the easiest to convince that we need to be outside.

Saying "Please can we go outside?"

    • We got Jillian her first snowcone this past weekend and she loved it! Her eating habits haven't changed much since last month. She eats pretty much the same things. However, I have started giving her bigger pieces to eat. Tonight she had her first half a sandwich. After that experience I've decided that a half was a little too much and I'll be giving her quarter sandwiches from now on!

Enjoying her snowcone...red mouth and all! MMM...cherry!

Enjoying her half of a sandwich.

    • She loves bedtime and bath time. All we have to say is "Do you want to take a nap/bath?" or "Are you ready to go night night?" and she drops whatever she's doing, smiles and runs to the stairs. We have to be careful not to say anything like that before it's time or we have a meltdown on our hands.

Jillian is absolutely the light of our life! She cracks us up with her personality on a daily basis. Frank and I feel so blessed to have such a happy and healthy little girl.
